OUR MISSION
We are devoutly committed to the artisan food community and to fostering the values of that community. We envision the Island Earth Farmers Market and Community Exchange at the Metreon as a vibrant gathering place of local farmers, artisan producers, and independently owned and operated food businesses for our urban neighbors. We are nurturing communities of people interdependent on one another that wish to encourage a longer healthier, happier life. We are a large family of small regional producers that practice traditional farming techniques in harmony with the land and surrounding communities that sustain us.
We are not only purveyors of the highest quality vegetables, fruits, beef, fish, and artisan related food production, including cheese, jams, breads, wines, hand made chocolates, organic fair trade coffees, we are artisans and craftsmen that work and live locally to support our urban neighbors who in turn support our efforts.
- We are the growers of foods produced via sustainable, organic, and biodynamic agriculture practices. We are by example the voice and docent to those who enjoy our products to educate them on the season varietals, food preparation and cooking, as well evangelizing farming methods that are compatible with replenishing and sustaining the resources of the planet we all share.
- We provide a central location for the promotion of the world-class food and wine producing regions of Northern California and recognize wine's connection to our rich regional cuisine.
- We operate as an active community hub and town center, that is responsive to immediate issues and needs of the local community as well as celebrate the local culture and cuisine.
